FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A protest against Tesla is set to take place this weekend near North Palm and West Herndon avenues, as organizers seek to discourage potential customers from buying the company’s vehicles. YourCentralValley.com spoke to an organizer named Marian, who says the Tesla Takedown movement did not start in Fresno - but it has made its way to the Central Valley from elsewhere. The goal of the movement, according to the Tesla Takedown website, is targeted at Tesla CEO Elon Musk to "stop his illegal coup." Marian says the goal of the protest on Saturday is aimed at hurting Tesla's sales in North America and discouraging investments in the company. "A North American sales collapse would be a disaster for him since he owns about 13% of the company," Marian said. "It would also be a disaster for Tesla shareholders." Marian says Musk and Doge have taken control of the treasury and other departments in the federal government with "no governmental authority." "They are gutting our essential infrastructure," Marian said. "This is a nonviolent protest to raise awareness of the damage that Musk is doing and to encourage potential Tesla customers not to purchase Tesla vehicles, to divest from Tesla stock and to get Musk out as CEO."
