TOPEKA (KSNT) - Evergy is reporting that thousands of customers are without power Friday as strong winds batter northeast Kansas.
Evergy's online power outage map shows more than 24,800 of its customers are without power across its service area in Kansas and Missouri as of 5:45 p.m. on March 14.
Evergy is reporting around 680 power outages in different areas across the state.
"Strong winds are currently rolling through the Evergy service area," said Evergy Communications Manager Kaley Bohlen. "Crews are in the field and will continue to restore power as quickly as they safely can."

Powerful winds are causing power outages across northeast Kansas on Friday. Extreme fire danger is also an issue due to the strong wind gusts.
