NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Mora County and San Miguel County fire crews are working to control a grass fire, north of Las Vegas, near the Fort Union Rest Area.

Officials say the fire has burned an estimated 3,000 acres. High winds in the area are intensifying the fire and crews are working to contain it. People are asked to avoid the area and expect traffic disruptions in the area. The name of the fire was changed on March 14 to Mogote Hill Fire.
