Fri evening forecast – Mar 14, 2025
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Be weather aware and have a safety plan on standby overnight during an elevated risk for severe thunderstorms.
Indiana also will have wind gusts expected to be strong from Friday night through Saturday.
Wind advisories will be i
n place from 7 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday. High wind watches will also be in effect in northern Indiana from noon-6 p.m. Saturday.
Friday night: A line of showers and storms move in from the west. The storms likely will be vigorous and life-threatening in Missouri and Illinois. Eventually, they will gradually weaken in Indiana. The storm’s timing and the severe risk associated with them will be from mainly midnight Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday.
Regardless of the expected weakening trend, the message remains clear: Have multiple ways of receiving alerts overnight and have a safe place to go. There is a Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) in the western half of Indiana with a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) along and east of U.S. 31. Main threats include:

Wind gusts outside of the storms will be strong with some pushing as high as 50 mph or more at times. Lows will be in the low 60s.
Saturday: Mild and windy weather is expected through daybreak. Another round of showers and storms will arrive in the afternoon and night. A heavy rain threat could takes shape mainly in the southeastern portion of Indiana, but could scoot more northwest into central Indiana if the cold front keeps slowing as some models predict.
There is a lower risk for severe storms, but the more concentrated area of the threat will be to the south. Damaging wind will be the main concern.
Highs look to rise into the low 70s with strong wind gusts up to 50 mph or more until sunset.
