It’s still really early in free agency, but which Lions move has been your favorite so far? We are still just days into the 2025 NFL offseason, but that doesn’t mean there is any shortage of news around the league. The legal tampering peri
od opened up earlier this week, and since then, there has been a ton of player movement—both via trade and free agency.
On the Detroit Lions front, things have been a bit quieter, which is to be expected when a roster is as loaded as theirs is. They have re-signed several of their own, and made one significant splash in the signing of cornerback D.J. Reed to a three-year contract.
They have also had a few players sign elsewhere, including cornerback Carlton Davis III, right guard Kevin Zeitler, and safety Ifeatu Melifonwu. You can catch up on all the latest Lions free agency and offseason news here.
That brings us to today’s Question of the Day:
Do you approve of the Lions re-signing linebacker Derrick Barnes to a new three-year contract?
Answer: I am going with the acquisition of D.J. Reed. On paper, it appears to be a good-value signing, and on the field—Reed is someone that could start for the Lions for multiple years.
Bringing him in allows defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard to slowly add more to second-year cornerback Terrion Arnold’s plate, rather than dumping cornerback-one duties on him after a promising rookie season.
How about you? What has been your favorite of the Lions’ offseason moves thus far? Let us know in the comments below.
