Liberty woman facing 2 child abuse charges after Invictus Task Force investigation

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A woman is facing child abuse charges involving two children in Liberty.
According to a news release, the Invictus Task Force began investigating allegations of child abuse in December 2024, identifying Paula D. Stevison, 47, of Liberty, as a suspect.
Stevison
was taken into custody on March 7, along with Anthony David Beckwork, a registered sex offender who was living with Stevison.
Stevison is charged with a count of felony child abuse inflicting serious injury and felony child abuse involving a sexual act.
Man charged after December homicide on Monmouth Street in Winston-Salem
Beckwork is facing a charge of failure to register an online identifier.
According to the warrants, in January 2020, Stevison committed "an assault that resulted in protracted impairment of any mental, emotional function" of a 7-year-old boy. The latter charge involved a 5-year-old girl.
Stevison was given a $50,000 bond.
