Death in Jamestown originally determined to be overdose ruled a homicide

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A death in Jamestown last year that was originally determined to be an overdose has now been ruled a homicide, the Jamestown Police Department said Friday.
Police originally responded to 442 Buffalo Street on May 2, 2024 for reports of an overdose. The death of Jerad Davis
, 44 and of Jamestown, was instead determined to be a homicide by the Medical Examiner's Office, Chautauqua County officials and his family.
Davis sustained fatal injuries following an assault, police said.
"We are seeking justice for Jared," the Davis family said in a statement. "He did not deserve this, and we deeply miss him. Our lives will never be the same without him."
Police said a person of interest has been identified. Witnesses have also provided information, but more is needed.
Jamestown police are asking for information from anyone who observed or had contact with Davis from on or about March 2024 through May 2, 2024 or anyone who was inside the Buffalo Street residence at the time.
