Newport Saint Patrick’s Day parade to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Newport Saint Patrick’s Day parade will begin staging Saturday at 9 a.m. at Newport City Hall, before kicking off at 11 a.m.
The parade will go down Broadway, head south on Thames Street, and ends at the Saint Augustin Church on Carroll Avenue.

Parking bans will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.
They include Cranston Avenue to Washington Square at Thames Street, Equality Park Place and Equality Park West, the west side of Dr. Marcus F. Wheatland Blvd.
Also included in the ban, Narragansett Avenue between Spring Street and Bellevue Avenue and both sides of America’s Cup Avenue at the Gateway Center.
Public parking will be available at the Gateway Center on America’s Cup Avenue and the waterfront lot on Mary Street.
On top of parking bans the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority has announced a series of bus detours.
Routes 60, 63 and 67 will all be detoured starting at 8:30 a.m., Route 60 will be detoured until 1:30 p.m., while 63 and 67 will be detoured until around 12:30 p.m.
