TOPEKA (KSNT) - Shawnee County's pickleball courts are taking a hit, and it's not from the game itself.
Some people are marking up courts at Family Park with chalk, and Shawnee County Parks and Recreation said it can take a toll for players.

The texture of the courts is important for traction, and foreign objects on the court can disrupt this.
"We want people to play pickleball and only play pickleball. It specifically says on the sign that it's for pickleball use only," Shawnee County Parks and Rec Marketing Supervisor, Sean Zears said. "So, we don't want people to come on the courts and paint sidewalk chalk."
Keep in mind, your taxpayer dollars are going to any repairs. So, Zears told 27 News, it's better to take care of them.
