‘It’s simple and sustainable’: Kuehnert family explains how their new milkman service works

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Kuehnert family is bringing back a nostalgic tradition — the milkman — with a modern delivery service designed to make fresh dairy more accessible and convenient.
“We wanted to provide families with a simple and sustainable way to enjoy our products,” said
Nathan Kuehnert, co-owner of Kuehnert Dairy Farm.
Customers sign up for an annual membership, which breaks down into four quarterly payments of $95, $187.50 bi-annually or $375 annually. That fee includes free weekly delivery.
“We’ve tried to keep it as cost-conscious as possible,” Kuehnert explained. “But owning a truck, paying a driver, and covering fuel costs adds up, so this membership helps us manage those expenses.”
On delivery day, customers place a special Kuehnert cooler, provided by the farm, outside their home with frozen ice packs inside. Drivers then swap out empty glass bottles with fresh ones, keeping the process environmentally friendly.
“You don’t even have to be home,” said Kuehnert. “Just leave the cooler out, and your fresh products will be waiting for you when you get back.”
In addition to traditional white milk, Kuehnert offers unique flavors like cotton candy, and coffee milk. Customers can set a standing order or adjust their selection week-to-week using an online platform or app.
You can also purchase any of their other dairy products such as ice-cream, cheese curds and fresh churned butter.
The delivery service currently reaches Fort Wayne, Huntington, Garrett, and Columbia City, with plans to expand to Decatur, Auburn, and Waterloo in the future.
