CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) --  State transportation officials are encouraging drivers to reach out to them in an effort to make roads safer in South Carolina. The South Carolina Department of Transportation is holding a “Pothole Blitz,” which will see crews out tackling potholes across the stat e for the next several weeks. SCDOT said drivers can submit a maintenance work request at the link below for a state-maintained road so crews can add the problem road to the list. SCDOT's Pothole Blitz Winter weather caused an increase in potholes and worsened existing ones, according to SCDOT.
