MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Marketplace Foods in Minot is introducing a new way to safely pickup your Amazon order, and keep porch pirates away. Over the weekend, Marketplace Foods off of South Broadway in Minot installed what's called an Amazon Locker. The Locker works as a convenient way to pick up p ackages. Once people make a purchase, they will be able to choose the locker as a pickup option and will receive a six-digit code that will be used to retrieve the package from the locker. Store director for Marketplace Foods Anissa Otto says the locker will help stop package thefts, which have become more common. "It's not sitting on your porch so somebody can grab it, it's not sitting on the neighbor's porch, it's in a safe, secure location where you can come and get it and grab milk and bread while you're here," Otto said.
