(KRON) -- Two Santa Rosa restaurant managers were arrested Wednesday for allegedly embezzling more than $49,000 by voiding cash transactions over many months, according to authorities.
The investigation began in February 2025 after the owners of a restaurant in the 3000 block of Marlow Road reporte
d possible embezzlement to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
“The owners found discrepancies in voided transactions at the restaurant that occurred during the shifts of one particular manager,” police said. “Business policies required such transactions to be formally documented for accounting purposes; however, in this case, they were not.”
Detectives said a manager, identified as Manuel Arzate-Pelayo, 27, of Santa Rosa, would frequently void cash transactions without completing any of the required documentation, according to authorities. Once the transaction was voided, Arzate-Pelayo allegedly pocketed the cash.
Arzate-Pelayo is accused of stealing more than $40,000 in the scheme across approximately 18 months, police said.

During an audit of the restaurant’s finances, SRPD said the owners also identified suspicious transactions from a second manager. In a similar scheme of voiding partial cash transactions, detectives said Jordan Sorg, 25, of Santa Rosa, stole over $9,000 over the course of a year.
On Wednesday morning, Arzate-Pelayo was arrested during a search warrant at his residence in the 2300 block of Tedeschi Drive. During the search, police said personal checks were located in a roommate’s bedroom that did not belong to the roommate.
The roommate, identified as 34-year-old Thalia Perez, was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for possession of a blank check and identity theft.
Later that morning, Sorg was taken into custody during a search warrant at his residence in the 100 block of Noonan Ranch Circle.
Both Arzate-Pelayo and Sorg were booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for embezzlement and grand theft.
Evidence that was seized at both residences is being examined, Santa Rosa PD said. ...read more read less
