Officer shoots, kills wild boar that caused property damage: Bear Valley PD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A Bear Valley Police officer shot and killed a wild boar that reportedly caused damage to property near Ridgeview Court on March 5.
The Bear Valley Police Department said it received multiple reports of boars that caused property damage in the area of Ridgeview Court

Officer Jay Stella with the police department was responding to the reports around 2 a.m. on March 5 when he found the boar, shooting and killing it.
According to officials with the police department, officers have received more than 20 reports of wild boars causing damage to properties in the areas near Saddleback Drive, Fox Ridge Court, Skyline Drive and Lower Valley Road.
Boars have caused about $15,000 worth of property damage in the area, the department said in a release. Officials say wild boars are an invasive species and cause damage by feeding, rooting and trampling.
