Traffic Alert: Crews install traffic control devices on Pennsylvania Avenue in DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is giving the public a heads-up as crews install traffic control devices in Southeast D.C.
On Thursday, crews began to install the devices along Pennsylvania Avenue from 40th Street to Southern Avenue.
DDOT said the w
ork will take place Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and continue on some Saturdays until mid-April.

During the construction, only one lane will remain open. Curbside parking might be restricted, but "Emergency No Parking" signs will be posted 72 hours in advance.
The department said traffic control devices will be placed to warn drivers, pedestrians and cyclists approaching the work zone.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert and prepared for possible detours when traveling in this area.
Flaggers will also be present to guide traffic.
Officials said Metrobuses will continue their normal routes.
