Atlas Brew Works: The Alexandria brewery and tap room is taking $1 off The Green Street Hooligan drafts, the brewery’s silky stout, all day on Saturday, March 15, and every beer will be available for $5 a pint from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Meanwhile, the Ivy City tap room is holding a ticketed St. Patrick’s themed calligraphy class ($65) from 3 to 4:30 p.m., with a whole calligraphy kit included. Every Friday in March, the National Museum of African American History and Culture’s Sweet Home Cafe welcomes D.C. pastry chef and co-owner of Bar Providencia Paola Velez for a monthlong pop-up, with plantain stick buns, carrot buttermilk pie, Dominican cake, and Summer Camp brownies from Velez’s new cookbook Bodega Bakes. The popular French bistro Mon Ami Gabi unveils an extensive renovation on Monday, March 17, with way more seats indoors and out (260). The revamped Parisian cafe wrapped in green and bronze features 90-inch antique chandeliers hanging above the main bar. Executive chefs Jason Mayle and Andrew Fleischauer debut new salads and sandwiches on the lunch menu, along with more brunch dishes like truffled scrambled eggs and a classic French omelet. Salamander Hotel’s Family Reunion is back for a fifth year
The Salamander Middleburg resort’s famed food and drink festival celebrates diversity in the hospitality industry each year, with panel discussions, cooking demonstrations, recreational activities, legendary feasts, and vibrant nightly parties for four days in August. Chef and restaurateur Kwame Onwuachi, Salamander Collection CEO Sheila Johnson, and Food & Wine editor-in-chief Hunter Lewis have even bigger plans this year (August 14-17), from legacy dinners to golf excursions.
