LIBERAL, Kan. (KSNW) -- Liberal police say a sting operation led to 12 citations being issued at local businesses.
The sting targets those selling alcohol and tobacco products to minors in Liberal. A total of 12 citations were issued to local businesses.
Of those citations, five were for selli
ng tobacco to a minor, six were for selling alcohol to a minor, and one was for a minor in possession of tobacco. In Kansas, selling alcohol or tobacco to a minor is a class B misdemeanor that carries a minimum fine of $200.

The fine for a child in possession of alcohol or tobacco can range from $25 to $200, along with additional penalties like community service or mandatory drug education. Businesses where the offense occurred can also face administrative fines or even lose their license to sell.
