RI unemployment rate sees slight uptick in January

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — There was a small increase in Rhode Island's unemployment rate in January, according to the R.I. Department of Labor and Training (DLT).
Data from the DLT showed the state's unemployment rate is at 4.6%, an increase from 4.5% in December. After a labor force revision by
the agency, it turns out the figure from August through December was 4.5% instead of 4.6% as previously reported.

Similar to previous months, Rhode Island's unemployment numbers are still higher than national figures. Nationally, the rate fell from 4.1% to 4%.
The DLT also reported that the state added 600 jobs, an improvement from December, which saw a decrease of 400.
Approximately 564,100 Rhode Islanders were employed, also a gain of 3,300 from the previous month.
