LAWRENCE — Lawrence Township residents have approved a referendum to fund a major expansion and renovation of the 75-year-old Lawrence Middle School. The measure passed by a 2,641-1,790 margin.
The project will allow sixth graders to move to the middle school, modernize learning spaces, and addres
s facility needs.
“This is an exciting moment for LTPS,” said Superintendent Dr. Robyn Klim. “We are creating a stronger academic experience for our students and ensuring our facilities meet the needs of 21st-century learning. This project will benefit generations of students to come, and we are incredibly grateful to our community for making it possible.”
The referendum will fund improvements to classrooms, the auditorium, cafeteria, and gymnasium, along with upgrades to athletic fields, parking, and traffic flow. These enhancements will provide safer, more functional and flexible spaces for students, staff, families, and the community.
“Our schools are the heart of our community, and this investment in our schools will have a lasting impact,” said Lawrence Township Board of Education President Michele Bowes. “We are profoundly appreciative of the community’s support in making this vision a reality.”
School board members are volunteer, elected officials who live and pay taxes in Lawrence Township.
The Lawrence Township Public Schools will now begin planning and implementation for the project and will keep the community informed throughout the process. ...read more read less
