Summit County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a Kimball Junction apartment complex on Saturday.A mother and her adult daughter were heavily intoxicated and had gotten into an argument, but both individuals denied any physical altercation had occurred. Deputies di

The two women were transported to a local area hospital “due to their high level of intoxication,” according to a shift report from the Sheriff’s Office.One of the women became uncooperative at the hospital and attempted to leave on foot. However, she was allegedly too intoxicated to walk or care for herself. Deputies arrested her for intoxication and took her into custody.The Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple other calls between Monday, March 3, and Sunday, March 9, including impaired driving, stolen property and injured backcountry skiers.Sunday, March 9Summit County Search and Rescue responded to a backcountry skier who had injured their leg near the Yellow Pine Trail. The skier was rescued and transported to a hospital by medical helicopter.Saturday, March 8Deputies stopped a vehicle that was driving erratically on Interstate 80. The male driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.Summit County Dispatch received reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Old Ranch Road. Deputies located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The investigation indicated the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.Friday, March 7Search and Rescue received a call about an overdue backcountry skier. They initiated a search, but it was postponed late on Friday because of hazardous conditions. The 51-year-old skier, Michael Janulaitis of Marion, was found deceased and fully buried in an avalanche in the Hoyts Peak area on Saturday.Deputies received an alert regarding a vehicle that was unable to maintain its lane on S.R. 32. They located the vehicle near the Rockport Reservoir. The driver appeared to be impaired and was arrested for suspected driving under the influence.Tuesday, March 4Deputies responded to a grocery store in Kimball Junction after reports that someone was threatening another individual with a firearm. They collected statements from both people involved and transported one person to the Summit County Jail.Monday, March 3Deputies executed a search warrant on a home in Oakley to find stolen property. While serving the warrant, they located evidence of credit card fraud and illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms.
