EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) - An Edmond family’s roof was left charred and with a gaping hole after Tuesday morning’s storms.
“Lightning strike,” said Chief Blake Hutsenpiller, with the Oak Cliff Fire Department. “We confirmed [the cause of the fire was a] lightning strike from the ring door
camera across the street."

The roof was struck by lightning and caught on fire shortly after 2 a.m. Crews said when they got to the home, in a neighborhood near Broadway and Charter Oak Road, there were intense flames.
"We were able to find the fire there in the attic,” said Hutsenpiller. “Took us a few minutes to get that fire extinguished just because of the difficult access, but we were able to get it under control."
According to the Charter Oak Fire Department, the flames were contained to the attic and a second floor bathroom.
The family of five escaped the burning home without getting hurt.
“Everybody’s good,” said Hutsenpiller. ...read more read less
