Mother of Garyville homicide suspect arrested on obstruction charges

GARYVILLE, La. (WGNO) — The mother of a Garyville murder suspect has been arrested, according to the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, 37-year-old Ashley Fleming was arrested on charges of obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.

According to deputies, on Friday, Jan. 24, they were called to the 200 block of Sherman Walker Street in response to a shooting, Upon arrival, 18-year-old Michael Johnson Jr. was found suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Flemeing's son, a 16-year-old boy was identified as the suspected shooter. An investigation revealed Fleming allegedly attempted to destroy evidence in the case.
Homicide investigation underway after man fatally shot in Marrero
Her son has been booked with second-degree murder. The cause of the shooting is not known.
