On December 11, 2024, police say a woman filed a police report stating that she never received her insurance settlement check which was worth $6,921.35.
She says when she spoke to the mail carrier, the lady told her she handed her ex-boyfriend, Leonard Davis, who lives with her the mail which included a check. However, the boyfriend denied receiving the check.
That is when the woman says she discovered the check was cashed at Tony's Market on 3523 Schoolfield Road. According to police, video footage from Tony's Market showed Davis and her sister Erica Johnson cashing the check.

On December 13, 2024, the victim positively identified Davis and Johnson in a six-person photo lineup. Investigators say they received a photocopy of the forged check, a photocopy of the ID used to cash the check, and photos of the two suspects inside the convenience store.
Erica Johnson is due back in court on Wednesday morning. She is currently held in jail on a $2,500 bond.
