(KRON) -- A Vallejo school is temporarily closed after a major copper theft on Friday. Solano Widenmann Leadership Academy students will have their routine classes halted due to the theft that has caused the school's electricity systems to be "severely damaged."
Although the Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) said in a statement Sunday that in-person classes would be canceled completely, contingency plans have been announced for students to experience minimal disruption in their studies.
Starting Wednesday, Jan. 29, there will be six alternative learning hubs, VCUSD announced Monday.

While crews work to repair the damage at Solano Widenmann Leadership Academy, teachers have assigned students to complete independent study work. Although it is optional, families are encouraged to register their students in one of the six hubs.
According to VCUSD, the schedule is as follows.
Wednesday: Minimum-day schedule (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.).
Thursday and Friday: Transitional kindergarten (TK) and kindergarten dismiss at 1:30 p.m.; grades 1-8 dismiss at 3 p.m.
Meals: Free breakfast and lunch will be provided at all hub locations.
Expanded Learning: Additional information will be provided for students participating in expanded learning programs at their hub school.
For those who elect to not attend a hub, school staff will be available at Solano Widenmann on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to give out independent study materials.
“We are committed to ensuring that our students’ education remains as uninterrupted as possible,” VCUSD Superintendent Rubén Aurelio said. “The dedicated staff at Solano Widenmann Leadership Academy has worked rapidly to prepare learning materials and establish a system that keeps our students engaged during this temporary closure.”
