Holyoke police seize firearms, arrest two Springfield residents

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Holyoke police arrested two Springfield residents following a disturbance on Chestnut Street Sunday evening.
According to Holyoke Police Department, officers were called around 5:30 p.m. for reports of a disturbance involving an alleged threat with a firearm. The suspect vehicle, containing three occupants, was located on the 100 block of Chestnut Street.
The driver, identified as 24-year-old Shyloe Harris, and passengers, 25-year-old Michael Bedinelli and a juvenile, were removed from the vehicle during a traffic stop. Officers discovered a loaded firearm in Bedinelli’s pants during a search.

Harris was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and making a threat to commit a crime. Bedinelli faces several firearms charges, including possession of a large-capacity loaded firearm and ammunition without proper licensing. The juvenile passenger was released to his mother.
“Both these suspects are well-known in Springfield, and I applaud our officers for de-escalating a dangerous situation, seizing an illegal firearm, and taking these suspects into custody,” Chief Keenan stated. “We will not tolerate illegal firearms in our city. Our officers responded swiftly and professionally, proactively preventing any further harm within our community.”
Bedinelli has been charged with the following:
Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card
Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine/Feeding Device
Carrying a Loaded Large Capacity Firearm on a Public Way
Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
Harris faces the following charges:
Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
Threat to Commit a Crime
