CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — In what's being described as a "hoot-worthy rescue," Charlestown officers saved a distressed barred owl Monday morning. (Courtesy: Charlestown Police Department) Officers went to rescue the owl after receiving a phone call from a concerned resident, according to police. Once the officers were able to secure the owl, police said the R.I. Department of Environmental Management brought it to the Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Rhode Island to be evaluated. "This dedicated organization will ensure the owl receives the care it needs to recover and, hopefully, return to the wild where it belongs," the police department wrote in a social media post. It's unclear exactly why the owl was distressed or if it was injured. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Daily Roundup SIGN UP NOW ...read more read less
