PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Board of Licenses ordered Motion Nightclub to close for three days after a disturbance early Sunday morning.
Board chairman Dylan Conley said a crowd of around 500 people gathered at the club, requiring more than 20 Providence police officers to respond.
The club is located on Broad Street.
A spokesperson for Providence police said seven people were arrested on charges that include simple assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstruction.
Police said several people became “confrontational and aggressive toward the officers” prior to the arrests.
Police responded to the club just before 2 a.m. Sunday.
The Board of Licenses held an emergency meeting Sunday afternoon before the decision was announced.
Another hearing in the matter is set for Jan. 29.
