INDIANAPOLIS -- Police are investigating an early Monday morning shooting that left a man in critical condition on the near east side.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 3700 block of East Vermont Street on a report of a person shot around 1:35 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult man outside a residence with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.
"There is no known threat to the community," said Capt. John Arvin with IMPD. "If there was, we’d expect more calls and more description of what's going on. And we have not received those calls, so we do not think there is any threat to the community.”
A witness at the scene was cooperating with police. Aggravated assault detectives are investigating.
