BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A portion of Interstate 5 has been closed due to snow and icy conditions late Sunday night. The closure was in place beginning around 10:40 p.m. and is for southbound and northbound lanes of I-5 between Grapevine Road and Parker Road in Castaic, according to CHP. There is no estimate for when I-5 would reopen, CHP said. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes. A weekend storm brought the first significant rain and snow of 2025 to the Kern County area. Snow fell through most of the day Sunday in the mountain communities like Tehachapi and Pine Mountain Club.
