Bon Secours Southside Medical Center experiences water service disruption

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- As of Sunday evening, water service has been interrupted at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg.
A spokesperson with the medical center confirmed to 8News that water service was interrupted as of Sunday, Jan. 26. They said they are "working diligently to reestablish service" and are also attempting to secure external water sources in the meantime.
The impact that the interruption will have on operations at the hospital in the coming days is still being assessed, according to the spokesperson.
When asked about the cause of the disruption, the spokesperson redirected inquiries to the City of Petersburg.
8News has reached out to the city in hopes of gaining further information about the cause.
While the official cause has not been confirmed, complaints relating to water disruption at the medical center were seen in comments of a Facebook post from the City of Petersburg announcing work being done on replacing a main water line in the city on Jan. 26.
