BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) -- The SDSU men cruised past USD 90-71 in Brookings. The Jackrabbits led wire-to-wire after scoring the first eight points of the contest. South Dakota State opened a double digit lead five minutes in and led by at least 10 the rest of the way.
Five Jackrabbits scored in double figures, and the knocked down 12 3-pointers. The Coyotes were held to just four triples but also had five players reach the 10-point plateau.
"It was a special day," SDSU sophomore guard Kalen Garry said. "We had a great crowd. The atmosphere was amazing. I thought we played very well as a team, very unselfish, and got the job done."
"When you take some bad shots, it's hard, really hard to get in your press, right," USD head coach Eric Peterson said. "And the pressing thing is what we do, and we couldn't get into it. Disappointing start. I thought we played with them the rest of the game but you can't show up like that on the road and expect good things to happen to start a game."
Garry poured in a game-high 19 points. Isaac Bruns, Chase Forte and Mayuom Buom tied for the Coyote lead with 11.
