Shooting on Ferris Street leaves 1 dead, another hospitalized

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – The Rochester Police Department's Major Crimes Homicide Unit is investigating a double shooting that left one person dead and another hospitalized overnight Sunday. Officers with the Rochester Police Department responded to a house on Ferris Street in Rochester shortly after 2 a.m.
When they arrived to the scene they located 23-year-old Jeremiah Maddox who was pronounced deceased at the scene and a 19-year-old man who had been shot in his lower body. The 19-year-old was taken to URMC, and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
According to the RPD, three others inside the house were not shot. The property owner told police that no one lives at the location, he keeps it as an extra house for his children.
"At this time it appears that unknown suspect(s) fired multiple gunshots into theresidence from outside, striking the two victims, all of whom were inside," officers said.
