SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Depending on where you reside in San Diego County, you may need your rain jacket or snow boots Sunday based on the weather forecast. According to the National Weather Service, scattered rain and mountain snow are expected to become more widespread into Monday. There is even a slight chance of thunderstorms for the coast and valleys in the afternoon hours Sunday. (KSWB) As far as the rain goes, that chance of thunderstorms is west of the mountains, with scattered showers possible through Sunday night and into the morning hours. According to NWS, some left over, more sporadic showers may also occur on Tuesday in the mountains. There's also a 25% chance of showers continuing into Wednesday. Amount-wise, widespread precipitation of 0.80 to 1.5 inches is expected for coasts and valleys into Tuesday with 1.5 to 3 inches possible in the mountains, NWS noted. (Credit: Debbie Williams) Traces of snow could be seen via a live cam on Mount Laguna Sunday morning, while other live cams in Julian only appeared to show some rain drizzle before 11 a.m. NWS said snow levels are around 4,500 to 5,000 feet with wind gusts near 30 and 40 mph at times in the east-west passes. Looking ahead, local meteorologist predict a 15 to 20% chance of precipitation returning for next weekend.
