Harvey pedestrian killed in Plaquemines Parish crash

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Harvey pedestrian dead in Plaquemines Parish on Saturday, Jan. 25.
The LSP reported the crash happened on Louisiana 3017 near Commerce Street around 7:45 p.m.

LSP officials said an initial investigation shows that 69-year-old Jamie Young was walking in the southbound lane of LA 3017 while a Mercedes was driving south. The Mercedes then reportedly hit Young.
Young suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.

According to the LSP, Young was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash.
LSP troopers said the driver of the Mercedes, "provided a voluntary breath sample, which indicated a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.000g%."
The investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
