INDIANAPOLIS — A portion of Marion County was impacted by a brief water outage on Sunday afternoon. Per Citizens Energy Group, two major pumping facilities were affected by a power outage around 12:50 p.m. The power outage and subsequent pump problems resulted in a short drop in water pressure for Citizens Energy customers in the central portion of Marion County. Citizens Energy indicated its customers likely experienced varying impacts of the outage and pump issues. The company also reported that it restored regular water pressure to its customers by activating the secondary power sources at the facilities impacted by the outage. Per Citizens Energy, tap water in Marion County is still safe to drink. Because there was not change in water quality during the outage, the company did not issue a precautionary boil order.
