Passengers in the vehicle included an adult man and woman and a minor child seated in the back. An initial investigation showed that the SUV was eastbound on STH 20 when it left the road, hit a signpost, which severely damaged the windshield, and then collided with a utility box. Authorities say the vehicle continued eastbound in the ditch, narrowly missing a utility pole and guy wire as it continued for roughly another 150 yards before stopping.
