Louisiana Flute Fest to be held at NSU on February 1

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL/KMSS) - Northwestern State University's Second Annual Flute Festival will soon feature concerts, masterclasses, workshops, a flute choir, and exhibits.
At 2 p.m., guest artists Giovanni Perez (of Liberty University) and Ji Weon Ryu (of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra) will perform.

Giovanni Perez
Grammy-nominator producer and musician Giovanni Perez teaches applied flute lessons, music production, songwriting, improvisation, and global music entrepreneurship.
He has traveled the world, from Turkey to Puerto Rico, Finland to the United States, to offer his masterclasses and workshops in improv and contemporary music.
Perez is also a founding member of the Victory Players.
Ji Weon Ryu
Ji Weon Ryu has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Chautauqua, Princeton, and Syracuse symphonies, the Verbier Festival Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Seoul Chamber Orchestra, and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed at Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Dvorak Hall (Prague), The John F. Kennedy Center, Musikverein (Vienna), and the Seoul Arts Center. Ryu is admired for her “pure poetry” and “beautiful technique and sound," and she regularly tours with the Frisson, a contemporary group based in Seoul.
Registration for the event is free and begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sat., Feb. 1. Flute Fest will take place in the Magale Recital Hall at NSU.
