Longtime Orangeburg County Deputy passes away at 67

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Sheriff Leroy Ravenell and the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office are mourning the passing of a retired longtime deputy and friend, Retired Deputy Bobby Jones.
“There wasn’t a time when you saw Bobby that he wouldn’t have a smile on his face,” the sheriff said. “That was just who he was – good days, bad days, he kept going with a smile,” he continues.
Ravenell said Deputy Jones passed away Sunday, January 19, after an extended illness. He was 67.
Jones joined the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office in September 2008. He served in multiple capacities until retiring from OCSO in February 2021.
Services for the Orangeburg deputy were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25 at Greater St. Peter AME Church in Cameron, SC. Interment followed at Belleville Memorial Garden.
