(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Police responded to a call about a disturbance in which a man allegedly kidnapped his estranged girlfriend on Saturday, Jan. 25, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). CSPD reported that around 7 a.m. on Saturday, officers arrived at the location in the 300 block of East Rockrimmon Boulevard, near East Woodmen Road. Information indicated that the victim had been abducted by her estranged boyfriend. The Domestic Violence/Adult Sexual Assault unit took over the investigation and found the suspect's vehicle in the 3400 block of Afternoon Circle, near Chelton Road and East Fountain Boulevard. According to CSPD, the victim was spotted as she was being taken to a car and the Tactical Enforcement Unit made contact with the victim and the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Matthew Chavaries. The victim was rescued and the suspect was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping, along with other charges.
