Arvada police shoot, seriously injure suspect in stolen car

Arvada police officers shot a car theft suspect early Sunday morning after the suspect got into the stolen vehicle and shot at officers, police said.
Officers found a stolen car in an alley one block west of Kipling Parkway, between West 58th Place and West 59th Avenue, around 3:40 a.m. Sunday, according to a statement from the Arvada Police Department.
The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, got into the car, refused to exit and fired multiple shots at officers, the police department said.

Three Arvada officers returned fire and shot the suspect, who paramedics took to the hospital “with life-threatening injuries,” police said. No update on the suspect’s condition was available Sunday morning.
Police officials said the three officers involved were placed on administrative leave while the shooting is under investigation. No officers were injured.
