SSU athletic program plans to sue CSU Board of Trustees due to budget cuts

(KRON) – The Sonoma State University’s Seawolves Athletics announced Saturday that it is preparing legal action to block the California State University Board of Trustees from discontinuing the university’s athletics program.
According to the Seawolves Athletics, the group was recently in a meeting where the CSU Board of Trustees discussed cutting the group and/or significant budget cuts. The Seawolves said the injunction “would stop any further steps in the decision-making process by the CSU Board of Trustees and The Chancellor regarding the dismantling of SSU’s athletics department.”
“We are standing firm in our belief that these cuts are not just a financial misstep—they are an assault on the heart and soul of our university,” said a spokesperson for Save Seawolves Athletics. “Our student-athletes have worked tirelessly to represent Sonoma State with pride, and we will continue to fight to ensure that they—and future generations of Seawolves—have a place to excel both in the classroom and on the field.”
