SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -- A man faces significant injuries after a kitchen fire in Suffolk Saturday evening. Suffolk Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the 600 block of Third Avenue around 6:40 p.m. in reference to a medical emergency. Upon arrival at approximately 6:45 p.m., crews found a man with significant burns. An investigation determined a cooking fire had caused the injuries. The fire had been extinguished before the crews' arrival and was contained to the stove. The injured man was taken to a local trauma center.
