MPD: Man threatens Dollar Tree employee with machete

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis Police are asking the public for help finding a suspect accused of threatening a Dollar Tree employee with a machete.
On Friday, at 3:20 p.m., officers responded to an aggravated assault at the Dollar Tree located at 3060 Thomas Street.

Officers were advised that an unknown man entered the business wearing dark pants and a black hoodie with the hood covering his head.
The victim said that he explained to the suspect that the store policy states that customers cannot have anything covering their head or face.

The victim said the suspect got irate, started causing a disturbance, and was asked to leave the business.
The victim advised that the suspect said, “I will kill y’all,” and then exited the business, walked to his vehicle, a Black Ford Mustang, and retrieved a large machete from his vehicle.
The victim told officers that the suspect then walked back to the front door of the business and tried to re-enter the business with the machete but could not due to the victim locking the doors.

The victim said that the suspect was yelling and tapping the machete on the glass door before he left the scene in his vehicle.
The victim advised that the suspect’s vehicle had damage on the side of it and had a TN tag number DKP1492.
