Crews also collected repeat samples from all sources and pumps that service the East Kapolei Fire Station. E. coli detected in Kalauao Wells pump, water is safe to drink After further testing, only Kunia Wells III pump #1 returned a positive result for E. coli. The pump was shut down shortly after. Repeat samples were collected the following day on Jan. 24; all were negative. Samples were collected from other sites served by Kunia Wells III, pump #1 including Waipahu Elementary School, 'Ewa Town Center, PPG Paints Kapolei and more. "The tap water remains safe to drink because the raw water from this source is disinfected with chlorine before it goes to any customers. For this reason, no further action is required by customers," said BWS in a news release. BWS has launched an investigation and said the pump will be shut down until the investigation has been completed and the DOH gives its approval.
