SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A driver was killed Friday night after striking a tree in Miramar Ranch North, authorities said. According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred around 11:10 p.m. when a 58-year-old woman was driving a silver 2005 Toyota RAV-4 eastbound on the 10600 block of South Brookville Drive. For reasons unknown, police said the driver "failed to maintain the the curvature of the roadway" and drove onto the sidewalk. From there, the vehicle collided with a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and the driver was ejected. The woman, whose identity is being withheld, was pronounced dead at the scene. SDPD's Traffic Division responded and is handling the investigation. Anyone with information related to the crash is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
