(KRON) – A North Bay bakery has made national news. The New York Times recognized Quail and Condor as one of the best bakeries in the United States currently.  Upon entering the Quail and Condor website, patrons see "your friendly neighborhood bakers.” The Healdsburg bakery has more common pastries and bread such as challah, baguette and Danish rye bread. But the bakery also has sweet treats like pistachio cardamom croissants and Sarah’s canelé, which is a French pastry flavored with vanilla and rum with a custard center and a dark and thick caramelized crust.  The bakery even modernizes traditional oatmeal cream pie, which is vanilla bean buttercream in between two oatmeal cookies. The NYT called the bakery’s chocolate Champagne cakes “luscious.” Quail and Condor is located at 149 Healdsburg Ave. Two other California bakeries were celebrated on the New York Times list: Bakers Bench in Los Angeles and Gusto Bread in Long Beach.
