TOPEKA (KSNT) - Washburn University is set to hold a memorial service for a faculty member who lost his life alongside his wife in a northeast Kansas crash late last year. The university announced on Jan. 24 that it will be holding a service on campus at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30 inside the Memorial Union at the A&B Room for Dr. Dave Provorse and his wife, Marcia. The couple lost their lives in a crash in Brown County on Dec. 20, 2024. People who are unable to attend the service in person can tune in virtually through YouTube. "Dave and Marcia touched countless lives and will be missed beyond words. We invite you to join us in honoring their lives and legacy at our upcoming memorial service." He also recently received the Ned Fleming Excellence in Teaching Award which is presented annually to a faculty member who has demonstrated a high level of excellence in teaching.
