RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond announced a fund in partnership with the United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg on Saturday to support city residents who were impacted by the water crisis. On Saturday, Jan. 25, the City of Richmond announced that the partnership will allow individuals to support their neighbors by contributing to the Water Crisis Fund, which is now accepting donations. The fund will begin accepting applications on Friday, Jan. 31 and is open to Richmond residents with a demonstrated financial need related to the water crisis. The city said eligible expenses, which must be paid directly to the biller, may include the following: Rent Mortgage payments Health-related expenses Childcare Utilities Missed car loan payments Residents will reportedly be able to apply for the fund online and by phone. Additionally, Richmond Mayor Danny Avula has committed $25,000 from his Richmond Forward Together PAC to the fund, according to officials.
