One dead, another in critical condition after Hanover house fire

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a house fire in Hanover on Saturday morning -- the cause is still under investigation.
According to Hanover Fire and EMS, crews responded to the report of a residential structure fire at 7:10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 in the 6400 block of Gaines Mill Road, located off of Cold Harbor Road.
While in route, firefighters were informed that someone may be trapped inside. When they arrived, crews found smoke and flames coming from a single story home. Two occupants of the residence had already been removed with the help of a bystander.
Despite life-saving measures being performed on the two individuals, one person died due to their injuries while at the hospital, and the other person is currently in critical but stable condition.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No names or ages are being released at this time.
