SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Pennington County Sheriff's Office is going to be increasing their "proactive patrol" in efforts to make Pennington County safer.
In a post on Facebook, Pennington County Sheriff's Office gave a rundown of crime statistics from 2024, highlighting how from 2023-2024, the proactive patrol approach has increased the likelihood of them preventing or stopping a crime in progress.
Reportedly, the proactive approach resulted in 10% increase in calls for service, 19% increase in DUI arrests and 37% increase in citations. This approach also attributed to a 31% decrease of theft from vehicles, 38% decrease in stolen vehicle, 25% decrease of burglaries and a decrease in theft categories across the board.
